Need internet access at home or on the go? We offer Wi-Fi hotspots for eligible library cardholders. Hotspots provide a convenient way to connect laptops, tablets, and other devices when internet service is unavailable.
Hotspots are available to adult cardholders with an Andover Public Library account in good standing. Devices may be borrowed for 14 days and must be returned to the Circulation Desk with all included accessories. A 24-hour waiting period is required before checking out another hotspot.
Availability is limited. Please review the information below for additional content on user requirements, restrictions, replacement fees, liability, and borrower responsibilities.
Guidelines:
- User must be at least 18 years of age.
- User must present a picture ID.
- User must present an Andover Library card they have possessed for at least 30 days, be in good standing (no fines, fees, overdue items) and the address and phone number on file must be current at the time of checkout.
- Limit of ONE hotspot device per household.
- An agreement of these terms needs to be signed at every checkout.
- 4G LTE service is not guaranteed. The first 25 GB has 4G service, after that service may be reduced to 3G LTE.
Restrictions:
- Hotspots are for domestic use only – devices will not function outside of the continental US.
- Hotspots must be returned to the circulation desk in person with all original components.
- Hotspots are NOT to be placed in the library book drop. It will be your responsibility to pay for any damage/replacement costs from doing so.
- The library reserves the right to refuse service.
- Hotspots will be deactivated on the first day they are overdue. Overdue fines will begin to accrue AND the responsible party will not be permitted to checkout another hotspot for 30 days after return.
Fines & Liability:
- Overdue fines: $5.00 per day up to a maximum of $25.00.
- Hotspot device will go to a LOST status after 21 days overdue and you will be billed the total replacement cost of the device and all components (see costs listed below).
- Your library card will be BLOCKED until all fees are paid.
- Hotspots are NOT eligible for fine forgiveness.
- Hotspots are to be kept in a temperature-safe environment; not left outdoors or in vehicles.
- The Andover Public Library is not responsible for websites visited on the mobile hotspot or any damage to patron owned devices.
- You will be responsible for any fees associated with the loss or damage of the hotspot device and/or its components.
- Patrons are not permitted to purchase or provide their own replacement items.
